The Undergraduate Certificate in Nursing Study Foundations, offered by Torrens University Australia, is an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 5 pathway program designed for those who are new to university study or who do not yet meet the direct entry requirements for a nursing degree. Delivered entirely online, the program can be completed in two trimesters full time or over one year part time, with multiple intake dates throughout the year. Importantly, this program does not lead to eligibility for registration as a nurse; instead, it supports progression towards a Bachelor of Nursing.
Across three core subjects and one elective, students build foundational knowledge in health science alongside the academic skills needed to succeed at university — from the structure and function of the human body to the social factors that shape health outcomes. Each subject involves approximately ten hours of study per week, combining facilitated learning with independent study, and assessments include activity-based assignments and online tests.
Supported by the Study Start program, students receive dedicated academic guidance to help them transition confidently into higher education. This makes the program an accessible option for people from a wide range of backgrounds taking their first steps towards a career in healthcare. Enquire to learn more.
