The Diploma of Health Science (Level 1), offered by the Australian Chiropractic College (ACC), is a one-year program designed to provide foundational study in health sciences and prepare students for progression into the Bachelor of Chiropractic.

The course covers core areas including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and biophysics, alongside an introduction to the domestic healthcare system, research skills, and the sociological and philosophical study of health. This broad scientific foundation supports students in developing the knowledge required for further chiropractic study.

Students can complete the diploma face-to-face at ACC’s Adelaide or Melbourne campuses, or through a blended online study mode. The program structure allows for full-time or part-time study (domestic students only), and FEE-HELP is available to eligible students.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Health Science provides a direct pathway into the four-year Bachelor of Chiropractic program at ACC (subject to meeting progression requirements).

To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet one of the following:

Successful completion of Year 12 with required ATAR (or equivalent secondary education); or
Post secondary study higher education or VET study to the required level; or
Demonstrated and appropriate work/life experience as per the entry requirements

Applicants are recommended to have studied at least one of the following subjects at secondary level:

Where will this course take you?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Diploma of Health Science from the Australian Chiropractic College.

This qualification provides foundational knowledge in health sciences, including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and biophysics. It is designed to support academic progression into the Bachelor of Chiropractic program at ACC, subject to meeting progression requirements.

Successful completion of the Diploma of Health Science does not qualify graduates to practise as a chiropractor. Further study through the Bachelor of Chiropractic is required to pursue professional registration.

FEE-HELP

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, you may not need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees directly to the provider on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,435 (2024-25 financial year).
