The Master of Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) equips engineers with advanced technical and professional expertise to lead the global transition to sustainable energy systems. The program combines the flexibility of online learning with on-campus intensive sessions, supporting students in advancing their education, careers, and professional networks.

Delivered over six courses and two applied projects, and able to be completed in as little as one year full-time, the program offers specialised knowledge in renewable energy sources, micro-grids, energy storage systems, power distribution, demand forecasting and management, and advanced control systems. In addition to technical mastery, students develop essential skills in project management, research, and leadership to effectively design, execute, and oversee complex engineering initiatives.

The course is developed in consultation with UniSC’s engineering advisory board and taught by experienced industry professionals who bring real-world challenges, research, and solutions into the classroom. A strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, ethical responsibility, and professional best practice throughout the program.

Graduates emerge with the expertise to contribute meaningfully to a cleaner energy future and are equipped to lead in roles spanning renewable energy system design, sustainable infrastructure, energy management, and beyond.

What You'll Need to Get In

To apply for this program, you will need a completed four-year bachelors degree in electrical engineering or a relevant discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent.

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Master’s Degree of Renewable Energy Engineering from University of the Sunshine Coast.

Graduates will be prepared to take on senior-level roles on a regional and global scale. Job titles could include Senior Renewable Energy Engineer, Senior Energy Consultant, Energy Systems Analyst, Renewable Energy Project Manager, and more.

FEE-HELP

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, you may not need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees directly to the provider on your behalf. You’ll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,435 (2024-25 financial year).

There are a limited number of Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) for UniSC’s Master of Renewable Energy Engineering available for Trimester 1 2026. The cost of the master’s program with a CSP is $11,640 (normally $40,260).*
