From there, they create a care plan that may include dietary changes, herbal supplements, or homeopathy. They check in at follow-up visits and adjust the plan as needed.
The role sits mainly in health care and social help. Some naturopaths also work in health food retail or wellness centres. Around 70% work part-time, so flexible hours are common. This makes it a good fit for people who want to balance work with other parts of life.
Keeping up with new research is a key part of the job. Naturopaths attend ongoing training and read the latest evidence in natural medicine. They often work alongside GPs, nurses, and other health staff to give clients well-rounded care.
Working as a naturopath calls for a mix of science knowledge and people skills. You need a solid base in anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and natural therapies like herbal medicine. Strong communication skills are essential, as you explain complex health ideas to clients in plain terms. Listening well and showing empathy helps you build trust and get to the heart of each person’s health concerns.
