    This qualification is designed for entry level community service workers and will equip you with all the necessary skills and knowledge required to commence a rewarding career based on supporting individuals through the provision of person-centred community services. Through this course you will learn essential skills such as how to respond to client needs and provide individualised support, how to work and communicate in health and community services, how to recognise and respond to crisis situations and how to facilitate the interests and rights of clients.

    Aside from fully enabling you to work in entry-level community service jobs, this course is also a great gateway for further education that would allow you to work in more specialised services such as disability care or aged care.

    Note: This course is available through the Jobs & Skills WA Priority Industry Training and Work Readiness programs and a government funding discount is available for eligible students. Enquire now to find out if you qualify. This course is NOT available to people on 500 or 600 visas.

    There are no formal academic entry requirements for this course.

    Students will need to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) which we can assist with, photo identification and meet the language, literacy and numeracy requirements.

  • Where will this course take you?

    On completion of this course, you will gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Community Services (CHC32015) qualification from Industry Skills Training.

    This qualification will have given you all the necessary skills and knowledge to perform confidently in entry-level community service and individual support positions at a range of community services organisations. At this level, work you undertake will take place under direct or indirect supervision of more senior community workers. This course also offers a great pathway to further education if you are interested in more specialised positions within the community services industry.

    Industry Skills Training offers a number of payment options to suit you commitments and lifestyle. You can either:

    • Pay the full amount up front;
    • Pay course fees by installment; OR
    • Present a signed authority from a third party to invoice that third party for the students fees and charges.

    This course is conducted under the Jobs and Skills WA scheme and government funding is available for eligible students.

    Course fees:

    • Student Tuition Non-Concession rate (Priority Industry Training program)*: $899.10
    • Student Tuition Concession rate (Priority Industry Training or Work Readiness program)*: $266.40

    *Note:

    • The student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.
    • For Secondary school-aged persons not enrolled at school, the maximum course fee chargeable in 2022 is $420. The maximum is the total fee for all courses the student is enrolled in.
    • Secondary school aged person means a person who has reached 15 years of age but has not reached the end of the calendar year in which their compulsory education period expires, as defined in the School Education Act 1999. In 2022, these persons will be born on or after 1 July 2003.

    Eligibility

    Participants are able to access mainstream training under the Jobs & Skills Priority Industry Training (PIT) and Participation – Work Readiness program and must meet the following requirements:

    • Primary place of residence to be in WA,
    • No longer attending secondary school
    • Holders of a subclass 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826 visa;
    • Secondary holders of a temporary visa of subclass 457; or
    • holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790
    • An Australian citizen or a permanent visa holder.

    In addition, Jobs & Skills Participation – Work Readiness program participants must meet further requirements:

    • Unemployed or underemployed & have a written referral from an Approved Participation Referral Agent
    • If self -referred, referred by another agency; or
    • Must hold a health care card or pension card.
