    This course is designed for people looking to enter the industry at entry level, and by teaching you essential skills such as how to support responsible student behaviour, how to support the development of numeracy, literacy and oral language skills, how to contribute to the planning and implementation of educational programs and how to meet legal and ethical obligations in an education support environment, it will ensure that you can perform confidently and competently in any teacher's aide role nationally.

    In addition to the theoretical component of the course, you will also be required to complete 140 hours of practical work placement in an approved educational institution, which will ensure that you can put your newly acquired skills to the test, as well as that you can hit the ground running once you gain employment in the industry.

  • What You'll Need to Get In

    There are no mandatory prerequisites for enrolling in this course.

    It is recommended that students:

    • Are 18 years old (note students under 18 will need permission from a parent or guardian to enrol);
    • Have language, literacy and numeracy skills that ensure the ability to read and comprehend technical terms and communicate effectively through email. These skills are equivalent to those that would be required to successfully complete Year 10 or ACSF Level 2;
    • Have access to a modern computer with video / audio playback capabilities and high-speed internet;
    • Have access to Microsoft Office or equivalent;
    • Have access to people to participate in role plays & assessments.
