    This contemporary course is specifically designed to give you all the skills and knowledge required to take on challenges presented in community services roles, as well as the ability to take on more senior and management roles in the sector. You will learn essential skills such as how to analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services, how to develop and implement service programs, how to manage legal and ethical compliance and how to develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management.

    The course will allow you to choose an elective specialisation that focuses on one of the important aspects of community work such as drug and alcohol recovery, mental health, disability, youth work or case management. The course also involves 100-120 hours of practical work placement which will allow you to gain crucial practical experience required to hit the ground running once you take on a specific role in the industry.

    You have a choice of studying this course online (blended with virtual classes), or by correspondence. Please note that both options still involve the practical work experience component.

    This course is government funded through the Jobs and Skills WA program, which applies to eligible WA residents.

    This course uses the following delivery methods, please take this into account when assessing course suitability:

    • Blended with virtual classes - you can do the whole course online but you do need to attend some online classes at specific times (a couple of nights per week) with trainers. This study mode is government funded and is the most popular type of study mode used by students at Insight Training.

    Please Note: This course is NOT available to people on a 500 or 600 visa.

    There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, but it is preferred that students have obtained a minimum of a School Certificate or equivalent.

    While completing the CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services qualification from Insight Training, you will need to complete 16 units comprising of eight core and eight elective units over three terms. Subject you may study include:
