By acquiring skills such as facilitating workplace debriefing and support processes, managing legal and ethical compliance, assessing and promoting social, emotional and physical well-being, providing advocacy and representation services and development and facilitation of all aspects of case management, you will be able to confidently perform in a range of community services positions across a broad spectrum of organisations.

    This qualification will also enable you to work autonomously under broad directions from senior management, as well as to oversee the work of junior staff members.

    There are no formal academic entry requirements for this course.

    Students will need to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) which we can assist with, photo identification and meet the language, literacy and numeracy requirements.

    On completion of this course, you will gain a nationally recognised Diploma in Community Services (CHC52015) qualification from Industry Skills Training.

    This qualification will give you the contemporary skills and knowledge, as well as confidence to become an excellent performer across a range of roles in the community services sector. You will be able to competently engage in case management, social care and support and social housing roles across a large number of government, not-for-profit and private organisations involved in providing community social care. You will be able to work with minimum supervision and with broad direction from senior management, as well as manage and oversee the work of other members of your team.

    Industry Skills Training offers a number of payment options to suit you commitments and lifestyle. You can either:

    • Pay the full amount up front;
    • Pay course fees by installment; OR
    • Present a signed authority from a third party to invoice that third party for the students fees and charges.

    This course is conducted under the Jobs and Skills WA government scheme and is available for students eligible for Jobs and Skills WA Priority Industry Training and Local Skills, Lower Fees programs.

    Course fees:

    • Student Tuition Non-Concession rate (Priority Industry Training/Lower Fees, Local Skills programs)*: $400.00 (if aged 15-24 years) or $1,200.00 (if aged 25+)
    • Student Tuition Concession rate (Priority Industry Training program)*: $400.00

    *Note:

    • The student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.
    • For Secondary school-aged persons not enrolled at school, the maximum course fee chargeable in 2022 is $420. The maximum is the total fee for all courses the student is enrolled in.
    • Secondary school aged person means a person who has reached 15 years of age but has not reached the end of the calendar year in which their compulsory education period expires, as defined in the School Education Act 1999. In 2022, these persons will be born on or after 1 July 2003.

    Eligibility

    Participants are able to access main stream training under the Jobs & Skills Priority Industry Training (PIT) and Participation – Work Readiness program and must meet the following requirements:

    • Primary place of residence to be in WA,
    • No longer attending secondary school
    • Holders of a sub-class 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826 visa;
    • Secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457; or
    • holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790
    • An Australian citizen or a permanent visa holder.

    In addition, Jobs & Skills Participation – Work Readiness program participants must meet further requirements:

    • Unemployed or underemployed & have a written referral from an Approved Participation Referral Agent
    • If self -referred, referred by another agency; or
    • Must hold a health care card or pension card.
