  • In a Nutshell

    The Certificate III in Pathology Collection (HLT37215) gives graduates the skills and knowledge to work in all areas across pathology collection, for example private sector, hospitals and doctors clinics.

    The units address the areas of Customer Service, Pathology Collection Techniques, Phlebotomy (blood collection), Infection Control, Work Health and Safety, Medical Terminology, Visiting clients in their place of residence and Electrocardiography (ECG).

    This course has a blended delivery mode (ie. classroom and online learning), in either the day or evening.

    Practical Placement

    The course includes 35 hours of mandatory practical placement in Industry, which All Health Training organise and must be completed in one block, being Monday to Friday, which will be completed at the end of the course as students must have done at least 20 “successful” live bleeds before placement can be commenced.  Placement may take between 1 - 3 months to coordinate with industry.

    Some students may be eligible for Victorian Government funding through the Skills First Funding program, the Eligibility Exemption and Job Trainer.

  • What You'll Need to Get In

    This is an open entry program of study with participants needing to read, write and communicate in English to a level to perform the job.  

    • Students will be required to complete a "Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN)" evaluation to determine suitability.
    • Students must undertake a "Pre-Training Review" prior to determine suitable for the course.
    • Students must be over 18 years of age to conduct practical placement. 
    • Students must be able to provide evidence to AHT no later than by week 4 of the course, immunisation protection against Hepatitis B, COVID-19 (3 doses required) & current flu vaccination.
    • Police checks are required which is included in the student fees and must be completed by week 4 of the course.  If a student has a Disclosable Court Outcome registered against their name, we are unable to assist with placement as industry will not accept students without a clear record.  This requirement is not negotiable.  Please note, in Victoria this includes any offence that may have occurred up to 10 years ago.
    • Students are required to obtain a volunteer Working with Children's check (WWC) by week 4 of the course.
