Whether you're just starting out in the accounting field or have some experience, this course covers foundational, need-to-know principles as well as more advanced skills and knowledge, preparing you for a successful career in the fast-growing financial services industry. Learn how to computerised accounting systems and spreadsheet software; prepare and lodge tax documents for individuals; prepare financial forecasts and projections whilst managing budgets, plus much more.

Graduates of this course will gain membership to The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) which is one of Australia's oldest representative professional bodies.

What You'll Need to Get In

To be eligible to study this course, students must meet the following prerequisites.

Completed the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (FNS40217 ) or equivalent; OR
Completed the FNSSS00014 Accounting Principles Skill Set (FNSSS00014); OR
Completed the FNS40615 Certificate IV in Accounting or equivalent; OR
Completed the FNS40215 Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or equivalent.

There are prerequisite units for FNSACC514 Prepare financial reports for corporate entities which is delivered the Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217). To be able to enrol into the unit of competency learners must have completed the following units within the FNS40217 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping:

BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports or equivalent; AND
FNSACC311 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports or equivalent.

Open Colleges also recommend that:

Students be over 18 years of age; AND
Have language, literacy and numeracy skills that ensures the ability to read and comprehend technical terms and communicate effectively through email. These skills are equivalent to those that would be required to successfully complete year 12; AND
Have access to a modern computer with high speed internet; AND
Basic computing skills including the ability to make a short video.
