In this online course, you'll study chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, and human nutrition, giving you a broad base of technical knowledge. You'll reach the level of chemistry knowledge required for postgraduate study in dietetics, giving you further study pathways, and you'll learn about the structure and function of the human body and the role macro and micronutrients play in human health.
This course contextualises your technical knowledge in an understanding of the sociology of nutrition, giving you the perspective to understand the complex relationship between society and nutrition.
With a strong focus on learning by doing and an online study model, this course is a flexible, challenging introduction to the health and wellness industry.
In order to succeed in your studies, each subject in this course requires a combination of 120 hours of structured and self-directed learning, which equates to about 10 hours a week over 12-week trimesters.

After graduation, you may choose to seek employment across a range of opportunities in the health and wellness industry, or pursue further study. The Diploma of Nutrition is the first year of the Bachelor of Nutrition degree, so if you choose to continue studying, you can transition to the second year of the bachelor's degree.
You may also choose to undertake further study through Torrens University Australia's sister institutes, the Australasian College of Natural Therapies or the Southern School of Natural Therapies, which offer the Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional Medicine).

Torrens also offers a number of scholarships to successful applicants, including the Vice Chancellor Scholarship and the Regional/Remote Access and Indigenous Access Scholarship.
