Whether you're looking to start a new career, or need to formalise your experience with an undergraduate degree, this Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) program is the ideal course for you, and is the highest level of naturopathic training available in Australia.

Delivered by the Southern School of Natural Therapies at Torrens University Australia, the course meets the professional standards of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA) and the National Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA), and covers the foundational aspects of naturopathy.

By studying the principles of herbal medicine, homoeopathy and nutrition, you will learn to:

  • Clinically assess, diagnose and treat patients
  • Work in a holistic clinical environment
  • Treat a range of patients with different case histories and conditions
  • Dispense herbal, nutritional and homoeopathic remedies

You'll get the opportunity to put your theoretical studies into practice with hands-on experience at the Think Wellbeing Centre.

Workload and assessment

To succeed at this course, it is expected that full-time students complete a total of 40 hours of study per week, while part-time students complete 20 hours per week during each trimester.

    To be eligible to study this course, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

    • Have completed Year 12 with a minimum ATAR of 60, or equivalent; AND
    • Have passed Standard English with a Band 4 or above; AND
    • Having a pass in a science subject at a senior secondary level is also recommended
    • Demonstrate you have the ability to succeed at this course through work experience and/or other formal or informal study

    All students are also required to demonstrate sufficient competency in English.

    Prior to commencing the clinical component of your studies, you will also be required to hold a current first aid certificate, working with children's and police check.

This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, you may not need to pay upfront.

Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees directly to the provider on your behalf. You'll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
