The RMIT JD is a versatile qualification for people seeking admission into the legal profession or for professionals who want to advance their careers. RMIT’s close connection to industry, use of online teaching methods and the incorporation of face-to-face, practice-based sessions mean you will receive the highest standard of education with the greatest flexibility.
You will be able to determine your own study load each session, to fast-track your progress or work around other commitments. You will also be able to gain rich practical experience through face-to-face workshops, mock tribunals, moot court activities and mock negotiations in four of the units of the program.
This course offers a wide range of elective choices and is particularly strong on business and international law, with highly experienced teachers and strong input from practising lawyers.
The Introduction to Australian Legal Systems and Legal Methods unit is conducted solely through intensive weekends in Melbourne, Victoria.

If you are seeking to enter the legal profession or expand your career opportunities where legal qualifications are sought or required, the RMIT Juris Doctor program will open doors to a wide range of professional options.
RMIT University’s Juris Doctor is accredited with the Council of Legal Education of Victoria and is recognised as a law program which can lead to admission to legal practice. After graduating from the Juris Doctor, you will be eligible to pursue legal practice through the completion of a traineeship with a law firm or a practical training course.
FEE-HELP is available.
This course can be paid for through the FEE-HELP government loan scheme. If you are an Australian citizen or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, you may not need to pay upfront.
Instead, the Australian government will pay your course fees directly to the provider on your behalf. You'll begin repaying your loan through the tax system once you start earning more than the minimum threshold of $54,869 (2016-17 income year).
