About this course

The Certificate III in Fitness (Group Exercise Instructor) (SIS30315) is designed to give you the hands-on experience needed to enter the fitness industry.

By completing 30 hours of face-to-face training with an Australian Institute of Personal Trainers (AIPT) expert mentor or approved alternative mentor, you will gain first-hand experience monitoring group classes and tailoring them to the needs of your client.

The course also involves online learning modules that cover theory components of the course to be completed in your own time. On successful completion of the course, you will have a well-rounded skill set allowing you to deliver freestyle, choreographed or circuit style training sessions to clients at different ages and levels of fitness.

Practical work placement

To successfully complete this course, you must undertake a total of 30 hours of practical work experience with a mentor in order to gain real-world skills. AIPT will pair you with one of their expert mentors – a fitness professional – in their gym or fitness studio. Alternatively, you will have the opportunity to select your own AIPT-approved mentor.
